“Dunes, vegetable gardens, lagoon valleys and pink flamingos”

Wednesday morning from 6th June to 25th July

Departure from the small coastal villages, skirting Ca’Savio beach with its natural dunes and coastline woods and passing through fields of local produce. Crossing the bridge on the Pordelio canal takes us to the hamlet of Treporti. Canals and shoals alternate with cultivated fields and houses dotted here and there to lead to Corte del Prà, a lovely square with a landowner’s mansion, courtyard, stables and oratory. Here the lagoon takes over and the road winds along the banks of the fishing valleys to reach the ancient, solitary hamlet of Lio Piccolo, surrounded by water, immersed in silence interrupted only by the flights and calls of the many bird species. Black-winged stilts nest on the shoals: at this time it’s quite common to see the couples fussing around their nests. You can hear their unmistakable cry as they swoop, light and fascinating, above your head. But the real attraction is the flamingos. For some years now these incredible waders have settled in the lagoon and are particularly numerous at Lio Piccolo, from where you can observe them with the naked eye.
